What are Theme Workshops?
Theme Workshops provide the perfect opportunity to lay a solid foundation of photographic skills while photographing in a prime photographic destination over several days. For each workshop we choose a theme to focus on and have selected locations ideal for the theme. Example themes include wading birds, mountains at the height of fall color, large mammals of the prairie, or spring warblers. Each day will be packed with two photography sessions – sometimes a third if conditions permit. When not we are not photographing, the day will be filled with lectures on photographic skills and techniques, image processing, and the biology of our subjects. There will also be an image show and a few exercises and assignments for participants to begin mastery of the techniques they have been taught. Lastly there is a participant image showcase where participants have a chance to show the fruits of their work and receive feedback on their images. There will be time for meals, but you can expect a schedule that will keep you busy from before dawn until after dusk.
